6. Cookies Policy
This section explains what cookies are, which ones we use on monikadeneef.com, why we use them, and how you can manage your preferences.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, tablet, or phone) when you visit a website. They allow the website to recognise your device and store certain information about your visit. Cookies do not give us access to your device and cannot be used to identify you personally unless you have provided us with personal information.
How we obtain your consent
When you visit monikadeneef.com, you will be shown a cookie consent banner managed by WPConsent. Non-essential cookies are only activated once you have given your consent. You can change your preferences at any time by clicking the cookie settings link in our website footer. Essential cookies do not require consent, as they are strictly necessary for the website to function.
Cookies we use
1. Essential cookies
These cookies are required for the website to work correctly. They cannot be disabled. They include:
- WPConsent cookie: stores your cookie consent preferences so you are not asked again on every visit. Expires after 12 months.
- WordPress session and security cookies (e.g. wordpress_logged_in, wp-settings): manage your session if you log in to the site, and remember display preferences. These are first-party cookies and expire at the end of your browser session or within one year.
- Cloudflare cookies (e.g. __cf_bm): used for bot management and security. Expire within 30 minutes to 24 hours.
2. Analytics cookies
These cookies help us understand how visitors use our website so we can improve content and user experience. They are only set with your consent.
- Google Analytics 4 (via Google Tag Manager) sets cookies including _ga, _ga_[ID], and _gid. These collect anonymous information about page visits, session duration, traffic sources, and general device type. No personally identifiable information is collected. Data is processed by Google and may be stored on servers outside New Zealand. GA4 data is retained for 26 months by default.
- Google Consent Mode v2 is implemented on this website. This means analytics data is collected in a privacy-preserving, modelled form when consent has not been given, and full measurement only activates upon your consent.
You can opt out of Google Analytics at any time using Google’s opt-out browser add-on: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
3. Functional cookies
These cookies enable enhanced functionality and personalisation. They are set with your consent.
- Calendly: if you use our booking widget, Calendly may set its own cookies to support the scheduling process. These are third-party cookies governed by Calendly’s own privacy policy.
4. Marketing and third-party cookies
We do not currently run paid advertising campaigns or retargeting pixels. If this changes, we will update this policy and obtain appropriate consent before setting any marketing cookies.
Embedded content from third parties (such as video players or social media widgets) may set their own cookies when you interact with that content. We do not control these cookies. Please refer to the privacy policies of those platforms for details.
Managing your cookie preferences
You have several options for managing cookies:
- Cookie consent banner: use the banner or footer link on our website to accept, decline, or customise your cookie preferences at any time.
- Browser settings: most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies through their settings. Note that blocking all cookies may affect website functionality. Consult your browser’s help documentation for instructions.
- Google Analytics opt-out: use the browser add-on linked above to prevent your data being used by Google Analytics across all sites.
If you clear your browser cookies, your consent preferences will be reset and the cookie banner will reappear on your next visit.
